It's Winter Here

Which means we are in the middle of our yearly 4 week "cold" snap, cold as in you might need something slightly warmer than a long sleeve shirt once the sun goes down. Still, I dream of living in a cold climate and try not to miss a moment of this poor excuse for a winter, 'cause its all I have. Although big coats and mittens are out of the question, we can get away with a scarf in the mornings and evenings and I admit I wear one as often as possible so I can pretend that I am actually living in some exotic winter wonderland full of open fires, hearty soup, hot chocolate, pure white snow and rosy cheeks and noses. It seems that small L has picked up on all this as he begged me to knit him a yellow scarf. Now my knitting skillz are basic to say the least but I was so thrilled that my boy wanted me to make something for him that I had to have a go. I sat down and channelled my inner Nanna and came up with this (and one for me just because I fell in love with the green yarn and it was in the bargain bin):

Small L is over the moon with it and it has kept him entertained for hours. You see it's not just a scarf- so far it has been a skipping rope, balance beam, river, leash (sorry Maisie) and a dancing snake!

Sitting on the couch in the evenings knitting away felt all lovely and winter-y. I think I'll do it again next year. Who knows, if I apply myself I might even progress past scarves one day!
